Ipswich Town set to sign for ex-Sheffield United, Doncaster Rovers, and Everton player

Ipswich Town are apparently looking to sign former Sheffield United and Doncaster Rovers midfielder John Lundstram.

The 30-year-old departed Sheffield United in 2021, joining Rangers after the Blades dropped out of the Premier League. He has made 151 appearances for the Scottish giants and appears to be on his way out.

According to reports, he is in talks with Turkish club Trabzonspor and might become a free agent this summer when his contract expires. However, the Everton academy graduate may return to England.

According to reporter Alan Nixon’s Patreon page, Ipswich is ready to leap in and entice Lundstram if talks with Trabzonspor fall through. The 30-year-old would bring a wealth of experience to the Ipswich team, which currently lacks Premier League experience.

The Tractor Boys secured promotion from the Championship at the weekend, defeating Leeds United for the second automatic spot. While Leeds finished the regular season with a loss to Southampton, Ipswich overcame Huddersfield Town 2-0.

It was Ipswich’s second consecutive promotion, a year after escaping League One. Lundstram, known for his endurance and footballing brain, would undoubtedly fit in well at Portman Road.
