Yankees Could Sign Superstar Ace If He Is Willing To Make One Change

There is still a lot of curiosity about the New York Yankees’ next move.

New York made numerous additions throughout the summer and is now one of the top clubs in the American League. However, if the Yankees want to actually compete for a World Series win, they will almost certainly need to add another starting pitcher.

The Yankees have been linked to two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell on several occasions, but no deal has been completed to date.

However, this does not preclude the club from signing him. New York is still in talks with Snell’s lawyers, but a deal will not be reached unless he lowers his demands, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

“There’s a lot of internet buzz about the Yankees and Blake Snell, and though there’s no evidence there’s been significant movement in talks in weeks — and the sides are at least chatting — a slight softening on the Yankees’ part was recently detected,” Heyman told ESPN.

“A Yankees official who had been claiming for weeks that they were ‘done’ with Snell only mentioned late this week that Snell’s camp would have to’move’ (i.e. decrease its demands) to get something done.

“Based on the Yankees’ original offer, as published by The Post weeks ago, the sides were around $100 million apart (though the Yankees were thought to be willing to go to a sixth year).

In the short run, the Yankees may struggle because a higher average Annual value adds luxury-tax money, but they’d still be giving up draft picks.”

Landing Snell would be the best possible result for the Yankees before the 2024 season begins. Hopefully, they’ll be able to make another surprising move.
