Wrexham striker Paul Mullin has disputed claims that he almost bit an opponent’s leg during Monday’s 3-1 defeat to Birmingham City.

Mullin appeared to be on the verge of biting Alex Cochrane’s calf, but then moved his lips away before making contact.

Mullin commented on X, external: “I know what it looks like, but that did not happen. “Although you can tell his leg was planning to attack my mouth.”

Cochrane told Sky Sports after the game: “I don’t really know, to be honest; I was on the floor. I believe it was a small number of handbags made from nothing, but not too many. “What a load of nonsense.”

Mullin, Wrexham’s leading scorer the previous three seasons, came off the bench 63 minutes into the highly anticipated League One clash at St Andrew’s.

The incident in the 81st minute sparked scuffles between both sets of players, with Mullin and the hosts’ Krystian Bielik being among those booked.

Bielik was then removed five minutes later after receiving a second yellow card for a challenge on Wrexham’s Andy Cannon.

Birmingham manager Chris Davies said he had missed the original altercation.

“I had my back turned to the melee because there was all that nonsense going on,” he was saying.
