WR wants his ex-Jets teammate to join him at Cleveland

Reuben After a promising debut season, Michael Carter has cooled off and was dismissed by the Jets today.

As the NFL world begins to split into contenders and pretenders, the Cleveland Browns are anticipating their Week 11 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After establishing themselves as a contender in Week 10, the Browns are now in the running for the first seed in the AFC playoffs.

Cleveland’s ascent is noteworthy in light of the team’s numerous ailments. It is a credit to the entire team that the run offense survived RB Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury.

The New York Jets have acknowledged through the waiver of running back Michael Carter that they are currently more of pretenders than contenders, but wide receiver Elijah Moore of the Browns is hoping to get back together with his old Jets teammate:

Carter ran for 639 yards on just 147 carries during his outstanding debut season with New York. He only received 114 attempts the next season, and he has just eight this year. Carter has accumulated 92 receptions, including 15 this year, and has established himself as a dependable danger in the passing game in just 2.5 seasons.

Smaller RB Of the team’s 198 carries in the Big Apple, 154 have gone to veteran RB Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall, with quarterback Zach Wilson accounting for the majority of the other 29 attempts.

Jets CB Sauce Gardner made his feelings known about the move.

Many clubs with greater waiver priority will have to pass on claiming the gifted pass-catching back in order for Carter and Moore to reunite in Cleveland. Although Carter is mentioned in the tweet above as being released, all players are technically waived from the active roster and must go through the claims procedure following the trade deadline.

The talented back may face a difficult decision from Browns General Manager Andrew Berry if more than 20 teams pass on him. This season, Pierre Strong, Kareem Hunt, and Jerome Ford have all demonstrated their worth to the squad. If Berry valued having four running backs after claiming Carter, he would have to waive a player from another position.

Moore can want it and Carter could be a good fit for Cleveland but it seems unlikely to happen.
