WITH 6 IN 10 GAMES, PLAYER WHO WAS SOLD FOR £1 M, HAS THE MOST ASSISTS IN THE LEAGUE.

With another goal assisted by his deadly left foot during Ipswich Town’s weekend victory over Preston North End, former Leeds United defender Leif Davis currently leads the Championship in assists.

There was no question in Conor Chaplin’s mind that the ball would come to his feet with almost laser-guided precision as he crept around the back of the Preston defense and awaited Leif Davis’ corner.

The former Leeds United teenager Davis added another assist to his expanding list as Ipswich executed a set-piece routine to perfection to open a 4-2 victory over fellow high-flyers Preston North End. Chaplin also scored in impressive fashion.

“I’m not going to lie, it was one straight off the practice field!” Speaking on the EFL Highlights Show on ITV Sport, Chaplin grins. “I put a lot of faith in Leif Davis’ left foot.

He is incredibly good.

Shining after leaving Leeds for Ipswich is Leif Davis

Davis now leads all players in the Championship with six assists. The 23-year-old has scored four of them in his last two outings after destroying Hull City a few days before.

The irony that Leeds sold Davis to West Yorkshire for about £1 million in the summer of 2022 will not escape anyone at Elland Road, as injuries to Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas have done little to dispel the impression that the left-back position is something of a poisoned chalice.

According to Davis, “We’ve done really well,” the East Anglian Daily Times. “We have completed the task at hand, but we must continue. Really, it’s still early, and there are still lots of games to play.

Ipswich leads Leeds by nine points after only 11 games played. Successive promotions—Kieran McKenna led the team to second place in League Two last season—don’t seem like such a far-fetched possibility anymore.

The Premier League calls to you.

It simply goes to show how hard we’re working with the manager, Davis continues. He’s undoubtedly performed at a high level (with Manchester United). He is aware of what players are capable of.

The Championship is one of the toughest leagues I’ve ever played in. A lot of extremely talented clubs compete in this competition, especially this year. This year, every team is quite strong.

Even though it may be “difficult,” Leif Davis makes life in Ipswich appear simple.
