Will Jevon Holland be cleared to play v. Ravens?

The Miami Dolphins are getting closer to having one of their top defenders return for Sunday’s critical AFC clash with the Baltimore Ravens.

Free safety Jevon Holland, who has been out for a month due to MCL sprains in both knees suffered in Miami’s 34-13 win over the New York Jets, has participated in Miami’s practices all week on a limited basis, and it’s possible he’ll return to the starting lineup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

“I have high hopes for Jevon.” “The most important thing is that he doesn’t have any setbacks today,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said, referring to Friday’s practice, Miami’s final of the week. “We’ll watch how his body reacts….Because of his meticulous character, you must use extreme caution to avoid a setback. He doesn’t take any breaks.”

Holland, a 2021 second-round pick, has been practicing on a limited basis for the past four weeks but has rarely done position drills or team sessions until this week. And the Dolphins’ coaches appear to have enjoyed what they’ve seen. “I’m just making my way, taking it day by day,” said Holland, who has 70 tackles, one interception, and three fumble recoveries in 10 games.

“I’m not trying to be premature or anything. I’m just taking my time to ensure that this injury is completely healed.” Since Holland’s injury, Brandon Jones has played in six games and has 40 tackles, two interceptions, and four pass deflections.

The Dolphins re-instated starting strong safety DeShon Elliott as a starter last week. Elliott had missed the previous game due to a concussion received in Miami’s 28-27 loss to the Tennessee Titans, and if Holland returns, Elliott and Holland will almost certainly be partnered together.

IS HUNT RETURNING TO DOLPHINS O-LINE Terron Armstead, Austin Jackson, Lester Cotton, and Robert Hunt, four starting offensive linemen who are all nursing troublesome injuries, participated in Friday’s practice.

Armstead, the Dolphins’ starting left tackle who usually misses Wednesday practice due to knee, ankle, and back pain, has participated in the last two sessions and is anticipated to start. Jackson has been limited this week due to an oblique issue that he has had for a few weeks but has deteriorated in recent days. The ailment led the Dolphins to leave him out of the starting lineup in last week’s triumph over the Cowboys. Instead, Kendall Lamm started at right tackle for the Dolphins. It’s too early to determine what the plan is at this stage.

Cotton was added to the injury report on Thursday due to a hip problem that has appeared to be intermittent for him. Keep in mind that Liam Eichenberg, who has been stepping in at center since Connor Williams sustained a season-ending ACL injury in Miami’s defeat to Tennessee on Dec. 11, has been playing with a calf issue that has limited his practice involvement for three weeks.
