When asked what injury cost Anthony Richardson this season, the Colts’ Anthony Richardson had a perfect two-word response

Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts had a dismal rookie season, appearing in only four games before sustaining a season-ending injury.

Without Richardson, the Colts ended 9-8 but fell just short of the playoffs, losing to the Houston Texans when they had a chance to clinch a spot.

Richardson spoke for the first time since the season finished on Thursday, and he was clearly disappointed that he was injured for the duration of the season. When asked what he missed the most this year as a result of his injury, Richardson had the perfect answer.

“The playoffs,” he said, according to The Athletic’s James Boyd.

The Colts selected Richardson with the fourth overall choice in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the 21-year-old earned the starting role in training camp. However, he had a number of injuries during his rookie season, including damage to the AC joint in his right shoulder, which necessitated season-ending surgery.

Richardson had 577 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and one interception in his first season, as well as 136 running yards and four touchdown runs. Gardner Minshew, the Colts’ veteran backup quarterback, filled in well for Richardson, guiding the team to the brink of the playoffs. Richardson stated that he will begin throwing again shortly, which is a good sign for his rehabilitation.
