Darren Bent has announced his decision on whether Kieran McKenna would quit Ipswich Town to become Sunderland’s new manager.

Sunderland are looking for a new manager after sacking Michael Beale.

What did Darren Bent say about Kieran McKenna and Sunderland? Let’s have a look.

Sunderland on hunt for Michael Beale replacement

Sunderland is looking for a new manager once again this season. The Black Cats, who formerly competed in the Premier League, are striving for promotion from the Championship.

Sunderland dismissed Tony Mowbray in December and fired his replacement, Michael Beale, last week.

The Black Cats have appointed Mike Dodds as interim manager till the end of the season. HITC reports that they are interested in hiring young Englishman Will Still from Stade de Reims in summer 2024.

Darren Bent’s verdict on Kieran McKenna to Sunderland

Former Sunderland striker Darren Bent discussed the club’s management situation on talkSPORT.

Bent suggests former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper as a viable option for the post at Sunderland Stadium. However, the ex-Ipswich Town striker believes Kieran McKenna will not take over anytime soon.

Sunderland, according to the talkSPORT commentator, is a greater club than Ipswich. McKenna is currently in control of the Tractor Boys.

Bent denied McKenna’s transfer to Sunderland on talkSPORT (4:38 pm, February 19, 2024): “No.”

Bent was then asked whether club is bigger, Sunderland or Ipswich. The pundit said, “Sunderland.” Probably Sunderland.

While Sunderland is a major club whose ultimate goal is to return to the Premier League, I don’t believe Kieran McKenna is interested in leaving Ipswich Town right now.

Ipswich are in contention for automatic promotion to the Premier League. While the Tractor Boys have dropped out of the Championship’s top two, they are still only three points behind second-place Leeds United, who have played one more game.
