West Ham set to complete deal for first summer signing

West Ham seem to have finally won the fight to sign Brazilian striker Luis Guilherme.

The Hammers have been widely linked with a bid for the teenage Palmeiras striker, with Goal Brasil journalist Valentin Furlan claiming that they have finally won the race to sign him.

On June 5, the journalist wrote on X that Tim Steidten’s trip to Brazil had not been in vain. The Hammers had previously agreed on personal terms with the 18-year-old striker, and they have now achieved an arrangement with the Brazilian club as well.

West Ham will spend up to £25.5 million on the forward, including £6 million in bonuses. Palmeiras has incorporated a condition saying that they will receive around 20% of any future sales.

Guilherme should now be able to travel to London for his medical and finish the move. If everything goes smoothly, he will be the Hammers’ first signing this summer.

“Palmeiras has an agreement for the sale of Luis Guilherme to West Ham,” he stated.

“Hammers will pay up to €30 million in total, with €7 million in bonuses. Alviverde will also own a 20% interest in a future sale. Several Premier League clubs are interested, but the Hammers outbid the competition.”

West Ham set to be active in the summer transfer window

Julen Lopetegui is hoping to strengthen the squad this summer, with as many as six to eight new arrivals on the cards. Adding a striker is a top priority for the team, as this is an area that has been severely neglected over the years.

Guilherme can play both as a striker and on the sides. He possesses natural speed and incredible dribbling ability, but he will most likely require time to adjust to a new league.

The Hammers are also trying to improve depth at the back. They were eager to sign Brazilian defender Fabricio Bruno, but the transaction is nearly complete.

West Ham have been linked with a deal for Vitao, a centre-back presently on loan at Internacional. The Hammers have reportedly made a formal approach for Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia.
