West Ham is likely to sign a £200,000 per week ace from Manchester United

Harry Maguire, a 30-year-old center back for Manchester United, is now being pursued by West Ham United.

Football Insider claims that West Ham United is still interested in adding Harry Maguire to their team. They are also in the lead in the competition to sign the former captain of Manchester United.

The 30-year-old England international is one of the players that David Moyes is interested in signing during the winter transfer window.

In 2019, Maguire enrolled at Manchester United. He became the most expensive defender when the Red Devils hired him for a rumored £80 million. The Manchester-based club welcomed the England international with open arms.

He was able to deliver consistent performances, and he even rose to the position of club captain. But for the 30-year-old, things haven’t gone as planned over the past few seasons. Since Erik ten Hag arrived last summer, he has slipped down the food chain.

The former Leicester defender lost his leadership prior to the 2023–24 season, therefore he is no longer a guarantee to start. The 30-year-old’s playing time at United has significantly decreased, and he has been connected to moves away from the team.

The deal to sign the England international with the Hammers fell through in the summer. His services are still sought after by David Moyes’ squad.

They are looking for a world-class defender to add more depth to their back line and Moyes feels Maguire could be a great fit for the club.

They are vying for his signature and are eager to have him join their ranks. The midfielder is intent on sticking with the Manchester-based team through the end of the year, making a transfer during the winter transfer window doubtful.

Even if a transfer is possible in January, it will probably be a loan agreement with a possible buyout option. Because on top of their enormous pay of about £200,000 per week, the Hammers cannot afford another expensive deal.
