West Ham defender confirmed to be out of games against Luton and Manchester City due to ankle injury

Dr Rajpal Brar said West Ham centre-back Nayef Aguerd may miss the games against Manchester City and Luton Town owing to an ankle injury.

According to the injury expert, ankle setbacks can be challenging due to the stress placed on them, making it difficult to determine a precise comeback date.

The Hammers face Luton on May 11 before heading to the Etihad Stadium on May 19 in what is expected to be a must-win game for Pep Guardiola’s team.

In an exclusive interview with West Ham Zone, Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said:

Ankle injuries can be tricky – especially for footballers since so much stress is placed through the ankle – so timelines can be quite hazy.

We don’t know much about the injury but him missing the next two games is looking like a possibility.

Moyes admitting that he’s not making progress is a sign that he’s probably not ready for a first-team training return.

Whether or not he’s done well in individual training since then, remains to be seen.

Nayef Aguerd has been inconsistent for West Ham United this season

The 28-year-old has had a disappointing season for the Hammers, hampered by injuries and a lack of consistency.

He has appeared in 21 Premier League games for David Moyes’ team, but has made a number of mistakes that have resulted in him being dropped from the starting eleven.

Even if he manages to return to full fitness before the remaining two games, it’s unlikely that Moyes will start him.
