West Brom are planning an aggressive move for Birmingham City midfielder

According to Corriere Della Sera (via Sport Witness), West Brom is a potential contender for Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James.

West Brom have only made one new signing this window, Andreas Weimann, who joined on loan from Bristol City.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman has moved in the opposite direction on a permanent basis, while teenage attacker Modou Faal has joined Walsall on loan for the rest of the season. But Carlos Corberan’s side does not appear to be finished there.

According to Corriere Della Sera (via Sport Witness), Birmingham City’s James is one of their potential transfer targets. The 19-year-old has piqued the interest of Serie A club Atalanta, and now West Brom have joined the race.

According to the source, Newcastle United, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Fiorentina have all showed interest in the midfielder.

Where will he end up?

There will be a lot to consider for both Birmingham City and James before deciding on a new club. A lot will rely on his football ambitions.

If he wants to play at the best level possible, a move to Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United, Brentford, or Brighton & Hove Albion, or Serie A clubs Atalanta or Fiorentina, appears to be a more feasible option.

However, if he joins an established top-tier club in England or Italy, he may struggle to find regular minutes in the short term. As a result, this could play a significant role in determining where he ends up before the end of the January transfer window, or in the summer if a St Andrew’s leave does not occur.
