Week 12 dirty play by Bills DT against the Eagles goes unchecked by the NFL

Jordan Phillips’s cheap shot against Cam Jurgens last week incited Jason Kelce to insist that Phillips should have been fined. The NFL wasn’t on board.

The Buffalo DT Jordan Phillips not only got into an argument with a Philadelphia fan during the Eagles-Bills overtime game last Sunday, but he also made some decisions on the field that left Jason Kelce furious in the days that followed.

One play in particular infuriated Kelce, as Phillips jumped offsides and proceeded to drill Cam Jurgens into the ground, nearly hitting Jalen Hurts. Although Kelce contended that it ought to have been a personal foul, the referees raised an offsides flag. The seasoned center also made a strong statement against the subpar play calling, claiming that the officials’ failure to call a personal foul on Phillips only served to fuel further problems during the match.

In addition to believing Phillips ought to have been given a personal foul, Kelce demanded that the league punish the DT in order to discourage similar cheap shots in the future. It turns out that the league did not agree with Kelce’s viewpoint, and Phillips’ Week 12 play spared him a fine.

Therefore, according to the NFL, D’Andre Swift’s play—which, along with all the others, did not warrant a fine—was fined over $10,000 for needless roughness.
