We get to apply the lessons we learned from the first round of games

Burnley will meet Brentford on the road. Having faced them twice in the Premier League in 2021–2022, we will be facing their boss Thomas Frank for the third time.

Frank has been Brentford’s manager for the last five years, having succeeded Dean Smith, who left the team in October 2018 to join Aston Villa.

Speaking today prior of kickoff, Frank stated of Burnley, “They’ve entered the Premier League and tried to do it their way. It was a very impressive promotion campaign last year.” Going forward, they have some really intriguing players. Foster appears to be quite intriguing.

“Of course, we would love to win tomorrow in front of our fans,” he continued. Both our supporters’ and our own performances must be at the highest level. Together, we must persevere and complete the task. The supporters deserve something from the players, and they will return the favor. I hope there can be a mutually beneficial effect.

While this is not one of the major top clubs we are playing, Vincent Kompany was quick to stress out that, even though it is his first game against Frank, every Premier League game would be difficult because, as everyone knows, Man City and these kinds of teams have something extra special.

We can now apply the lessons we learned from this first round of competition to perhaps improve in the next games. I’m focused on Brentford right now and have moved past thinking back on former matches. We anticipate a very difficult matchup with a strong team.

“We’ve spoken about the difficult away games against Forest and Luton. Both games were tough. Although winning those games is crucial, you ultimately want to gain points against the best clubs as well. There have been times in those games which we have lost, and that is where we need to improve.

“I think there is a balance between being able to have results now and making sure that in the future we’re able to get the results against the big teams as well,” the team captain has always stated.
