Wayne Rooney uses Koji Miyoshi example to question Birmingham City choices

Wayne Rooney expressed doubts about Birmingham City’s ability to make decisions and manage the game after seeing his new team lose at Middlesbrough.

At The Riverside, Michael Carrick defeated Rooney, his old Manchester United and England teammate, with a late goal from Morgan Rogers. The Blues’ lineup in Rooney’s debut game differed significantly from what we were used to under John Eustace.

Blues, who are attempting to increase their production with the ball after specializing in counterattacks under Eustace, were clearly going through a teething period. Rooney exposed the Blues’ bad decisions in stoppage time following Rogers’ score during his press conference following the game.

“Game management is so important, because we were playing against a good team that was in a good run of form,” he stated. “It’s decision making and game management when we have Burke and Jutkiewicz on one half of the pitch and Miyoshi on the other side by himself and we play a long ball to Miyoshi.

We still attempted to play out even with bigger players at the top of the pitch after Middlesbrough’s goal. Throughout the game, there are various situations where making smarter decisions is required.

“As a squad, we are getting used to a new style of play, but we do need to gain points in the interim. That presents our challenge. The fantastic thing about the Championship is that we will play again on Wednesday.

Rooney gave Gary Gardner his first start since February, shocking the crowd. Additionally, Scott Hogan was added back after sitting out the Blues’ previous two wins.

Rooney continued, “Everyone has had a chance this week and I’m always true to my word, if you train well you will get the opportunity to play,” in an explanation of his choices. Naturally, you want a team that performs well, but I believe that players also need to know that their efforts will be recognized.

” Bacuna returned from his trip yesterday (Friday), and Jamo has been abroad with Wales. It was quite challenging for them to get into the game because we have spent the entire week practicing our style of play. This week, I played with the squad I worked with.
