Wayne Rooney is eager to’move’ for an Ex-PL star to join Birmingham City.

Last year, Manchester United had the goalie on loan.

Jack Butland, a former Manchester United goalkeeper, is allegedly a target for new Birmingham City manager Wayne Rooney this winter. Rangers currently have the 30-year-old on their roster.

The Blues are interested in making a’move’ to re-sign him this winter, according to a story in The Sun. He previously spent two stints with the Midlands team. To add competition and cover to their goalkeeping staff, United swooped to sign him on a loan in January. He did not, however, appear on Erik ten Hag’s side.

Butland was a Crystal Palace player from 2021 and this past summer. After his time at Old Trafford, the Eagles released him, and he then made the move up to Scotland to sign a four-year contract with Rangers.

However, Birmingham is already trying to entice him away from Ibrox. When the next transfer window opens, Rooney will be eager to add some players to his newly acquired squad.

Last week, when he took over for John Eustace, he said: “To get back into English football is amazing. I was intrigued after chatting with Birmingham and learning about the Club’s goals. Success is something I and the Club both aspire to. I am eager to start and am looking forward to the first game in particular.

“I’m dedicated and I’m ready. I’m prepared to lead this Club. Being here is an honor. It’s my responsibility to prepare the players for performance. Get the appropriate mindset so we can be consistent, which is crucial in this league. I want to cultivate a winning mindset.

After being acquired by United from Everton, Rooney played for them from 2004 to 2017. Later, he scored 253 goals while playing in 559 games for the Red Devils.
