Watch: Matt Olson’s Crazy Handshake With Teammate Is Going Global

One of the most astounding qualities of certain professional baseball players is their ability to memorize unique, complicated handshakes for their entire team, as mastering even one secret handshake is challenging enough, let alone 25 or more at the same time.

After centuries of secret handshakes, it’s not easy to come up with a new one these days, but Atlanta Braves star first baseman Matt Olson and teammate Orlando Arcia created a simple, effective, and little aggressive secret handshake that recently went viral.

Alison Mastrangelo of WSB TV uploaded a video of Olson and Arcia’s handshake, which showed the two locking eyes and then slapping each other across the face in sync before walking away.

We as fans frequently struggle to give people flowers in the moment, instead waiting years later when players have retired or passed away, which is a shame because we all need to be more present and learn to appreciate brilliance when we have the opportunity to witness it live.

Olson hasn’t been as productive this season as he was last year, when he hit 54 home runs and drove in 139 runs for a.993 OPS; he presently has nine home runs and a. 775 OPS.

With Ronald Acuna Jr. out for the year due to a ruptured ACL, it has been a difficult week to be a Braves fan, but maybe, things like this might help keep the spirits up.

Arcia might also need to slap Olson just a little harder to get him going more at the plate.
