Vincent Kompany talks about Burnley fans’ support after the team’s dismal start to the season

In spite of his team’s dismal start to the season, Vincent Kompany is certain that the Burnley supporters will always have his back.

In an attempt to snap a run of six straight league losses, the Clarets will play their home game against West Ham on Saturday.

Kompany’s team now sits two games outside of safety at the bottom of the Premier League standings with only four points from 12 games.

Understandably, some supporters are worried about Burnley’s situation, but Kompany says everyone at Gawthorpe is keeping cool in spite of the team’s dismal performance.

“You forget that we live in a place where, ten years ago, there were people in the building who could draw from a wealth of experiences,” he remarked.

It’s a pretty serene location. It’s a quiet but demanding place to work, I promise.

“There is a very committed group of people who give everything they can to the club, but there is also a group of people who don’t accept the situation.”

After the Clarets’ most recent 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, a segment of the fan base expressed their unhappiness. The Clarets had the better of the match.

But when Roy Hodgson’s team scored a second goal in stoppage time to seal the victory, the remaining Turf Moor supporters booed.

“They’re not going to be clapping if you concede a goal in the ninety-fiveth minute,” Kompany remarked.

“Even though it was the actual outcome of the game, it is not likely that you will think, ‘Oh wonderful game today, you played well,’ while you are committing guys forward in the final minute, right before the referee blows his whistle.
