Vincent Kompany happy for the return of player as injury problems subside

According to Vincent Kompany, Burnley couldn’t have benefited more from Michael Obafemi’s return at this time.

As a late substitute in Burnley’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Saturday, the 23-year-old played his first minutes of the season.

The striker hadn’t played for Burnley since their 2-1 victory over Bristol City in April of the previous year.

Obafemi has had to undergo surgery and has had a difficult time getting back on track.

It comes after the forward sustained a serious hamstring injury in June while traveling abroad for the Republic of Ireland’s international assignment.

Obafemi’s return to fitness is much-needed, as fellow number nine Lyle Foster will be out for a while to receive treatment for his mental health issues.

Kompany remarked, “That’s good,” regarding Obafemi’s return.

“Obviously, having Oba back now that Lyle isn’t here, the timing couldn’t be better for us.”

Even with Saturday’s outcome in North London, there was still positive news as Aaron Ramsey made his way back from injury.

Due to an injury, the midfield player missed a month of play; his most recent game was a 4-1 loss to Chelsea at the beginning of October.

After the international break, Hjalmar Ekdal and Manuel Benson should be back in the mix. Arijanet Muric will also be available after missing the Arsenal match because he was called up for Kosovo’s rescheduled Euro 2024 qualifier against Israel.

It is known that Mike Tresor’s illness prevented him from playing against Arsenal.
