Vincent Kompany delivers the Sander Berge Burnley ahead of Sheffield United reunion

Ahead of Sander Berge’s reunion with his former club, Vincent Kompany has praised the midfielder’s recent performances.

The 25-year-old, who moved from Bramall Lane to Turf Moor in the summer, will play Sheffield United for the first time.

Despite a slow start, the Norwegian has appeared in every league game for the Clarets this season and has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.

Kompany quickly clarifies, though, that Berge’s contributions have mirrored the team’s.

He said, “He’s one of the guys who has shown himself as a leader for our team lately.” He will be crucial to our success on Saturday and in the upcoming games.

“I believe that he has made progress during the season that has been in line with the team’s advancement. To make sure the players are headed in the right direction, all I want to see is them [the players] picking up the points.

“Sander is an international player who has clearly played in the Premier League for a year already. He has demonstrated his ability to play at this level.

Finding a balance has always been crucial, but you never know when someone will be able to adjust—it might take six weeks or six months. Although it took some time, he is now making progress in the right direction.

“He gave an incredible performance at Arsenal, against West Ham and Crystal Palace. However, it is entirely normal for the team’s progress to coincide with his own. To try and improve the team, that is the reason you enter the transfer window.
