Vincent Kompany comments on Burnley’s much-discussed hiring of a drummer at Turf Moor

According to Vincent Kompany, it is not his place to judge whether Burnley needs a drummer to add to the Turf Moor ambiance.

This reaction stems from the club posting a job posting for a drummer, which has the Clarets supporters talking.

The chosen candidate, according to Burnley, will contribute to “creating an exciting and vibrant matchday experience” at home games.

During Thursday’s pre-match news conference, Kompany was questioned about the newly-created post and asked if the team needs a drummer. He was also asked about his impressions of the Turf Moor environment.

He remarked, “I think you have to separate the two questions.”

Does our group require a drummer? I’ll let others respond to that; the custodians of this club will have to make the final call.

It’s no secret that Turf Moor has always had a difficult environment; coming here is no exception. It has always been a location where the game is alive.

“Like everything else, you always try to improve by 1% when you can, and I believe it’s up to them to determine whether this will add that 1%.”

The excitement at home hasn’t quite reached the peak it did during Burnley’s dominant Championship victory the previous season.

However, the Clarets have lost all five of their Premier League games at Turf Moor this season, so that hasn’t exactly helped.

Kompany responded that it’s a combination of the two when questioned if it should be the players’ responsibility to make sure they do well on the field to uplift the supporters or vice way.

He remarked, “The way football is experienced in England, it has to be mutual.”

“The stadium has these great atmospheres when the game is picking up steam. It is not like in Germany, where 5,000 people sing for ninety minutes because they want to, when the game slows down a little.

“It’s different but here the people live with the momentum and that’s the main difference, having played both here and abroad.”
