Views on Mike Hart quitting Michigan football coaching staff

Multiple reports revealed on Friday that Michigan football great Mike Hart would return as the running backs coach in 2024.

It was recently announced that Michigan football assistant coach Mike Hart was on leave from the team. However, many sources indicate that the great Michigan Wolverines running back will not return to the coaching staff this season.

The running backs coach was the final piece of intrigue surrounding Sherrone Moore’s first coaching staff. Michigan football named its entire defensive staff on Friday. Shortly after, Hart’s departure was confirmed, leaving Moore with one opening.

Denard Robinson, who works in the recruiting department, already knows the answer.

Denard Robinson would be a perfect RB coach for Michigan football

Shoelace, like Mike Hart, is one of Michigan football’s all-time leading rushers and the best dual-threat quarterback in school history. I have no qualms saying so. We’ve never seen another Denard Robinson.

Robinson did not play quarterback in the NFL, however. He was a running back who spent four years in the league. He also worked as a Jaguars analyst for three seasons before taking over as Ann Arbor’s assistant director of player personnel.

With his NFL experience, recruiting success, and enthusiasm for Michigan football, it appears to be a no-brainer. Hart’s loss is devastating. There is no question about that. He was an excellent leader, recruiter, and talent developer. He also served as the run game coordinator.

However, Robinson appears to be the best option, and he has the potential to transform a poor situation into a good for Michigan.
