Update on Huddersfield Town injuries before their match vs QPR: three players’ chances evaluated

The Terriers are anticipated to be without midfielder David Kasumu and forward Danny Ward, while Josh Ruffels is questionable and Pat Jones has developed a new ailment.

Although David Kasumu and Danny Ward are both in the last stages of their individual injury recoveries and are making “excellent” progress, neither is probably quite ready to return when the Terriers play Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the most recent international break, striker Ward had not featured for Huddersfield Town; his final game was a September 2 away triumph against West Bromwich Albion.

Then-manager Neil Warnock revealed last month that Ward had been playing through the pain of a sore Achilles tendon for several games before then but that it had become too much for him to continue to push through, leaving Ward sidelined for the past six games.

This indicates that Darren Moore, the club’s new manager, has not used Ward yet. Moore said following Town’s most recent match, a goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday, that having Ward return would be a “wonderful addition.” But it appears that there will be a wait for his services.

Due to an ankle injury he received from being kicked during Town’s final summer preseason friendly, Kasumu missed the start of the season. He didn’t play until last month when he was substituted due to a hamstring injury during the first half of the 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

The midfield player has a history of hamstring problems, having battled them frequently throughout his time at Milton Keynes Dons. However, he missed most of last season’s action due to an additional recurrence that occurred during his debut game for the team.

Josh Ruffels has also been sidelined against Stoke last month due to a groin injury; he was forced to leave the game early against Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday as well as the trip to Coventry City. Moore said there was a 50/50 chance Ruffels will play against QPR.

Pat Jones, a winger for Wales Under-21s, sustained a muscular injury while traveling for international duty and is not expected to participate this weekend.

Meanwhile, Ollie Turton kicked a ball for the first time since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in February, marking a crucial milestone in his recuperation. The right-back hopes to start playing competitively again at the start of the next year.
