Mahomes shares exciting updates from camp.
Following the fifth training camp practice at Missouri Western State University, Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ standout quarterback, provided an update on his team’s wide outs. He had some interesting things to say regarding Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy.
Mahomes was pleasantly surprised by Hollywood Brown’s versatility as a receiver. “No one told me like how much he can actually do on the football field,” Mahomes revealed to reporters. “He can run the over-the-middle routes. He can run great routes and go deep. It’s not as if ‘quick’ is all he can accomplish.”
This is fantastic news for Chiefs fans and potentially disastrous for their opponents. Mahomes even believes Brown is still developing as an athlete, which is quite astounding.
Rashee Rice, who led the team in receiving yards in 2023, also drew Mahomes’ attention. According to the quarterback, Rice arrived at camp in even better shape this year. Rice’s explosiveness down the field and ability to generate yards quickly after catching the ball underneath impressed Mahomes the most.

Mahomes highlights receiver bond between Rice and Brown
Mahomes added that Rice and Brown have been working out together and motivating each other to be great. Mahomes valued Rice’s mentorship position as the senior wideout. “They are usually together. They’re constantly working on routes. “They push each other to be great,” Mahomes explained. It’s apparent that the camaraderie between these athletes is helping them improve their game.
Mahomes believes Xavier Worthy, the team’s first-round pick, has a lot of promise. Despite missing a few days of practice due to strep sickness, Worthy has already demonstrated his abilities on the field. “You can already see the talent,” Mahomes noted. “I mean, you all saw the catch that went viral.” It’s apparent he has big expectations for Worthy.
Overall, Mahomes’ update on the receivers is positive and exciting. The Chiefs appear to have a great bunch of wide receivers who are not just talented individually but also function well as a team. With Mahomes leading the way, it’s no surprise that Chiefs supporters have high hopes for the next season.
