Transfer Portal: Former Florida State RB wants to join Arkansas Razorbacks

The doorway gives and takes. Fortunately, this time, it was the former.

Former Florida State running back Rodney Hill opted to contact the Hogs on Friday afternoon. Hill is the first player to commit to the Hogs after spring practice.

Hill rushed for 334 yards on 77 rushes vs Florida State, averaging 4.3 yards per carry and scoring twice. He also gained 83 yards in the air with five grabs.

Arkansas initially offered Hill when he entered the gate in December. He had a visit arranged, but it was canceled shortly after Utah transfer Ja’Quinden Jackson committed, according to Danny West of HogSports. After committing to Florida A&M and then Miami, Hill saw another opportunity to become a Hog.

Just a few days before his pledge, the Hogs suffered a major blow to their running back room when Isaiah Augustave quit the day after the spring game. With Augustave on the team, Arkansas was enormous. Except for Rashod Dubinion, all running backs were at least 6-foot-1-inch tall and weighed 200 pounds.

The 5-foot-10-inch, 190-pounder brings another little shifty back to the team. Having more than one change-of-pace back will be beneficial in Bobby Petrino’s strategy, given the growing role of running backs in the passing game.
