Transfer linebacker commits to Arkansas

Jacksonville State transfer linebacker Larry Worth discusses his time with Travis Williams and the Razorbacks.

Arkansas welcomed two transfer linebackers during the first four days of the 15-day transfer window, including Jacksonville State transfer Larry Worth, who committed to the Razorbacks at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Worth stated the Hogs’ possibility for early playing time influenced his decision to join Sam Pittman’s program.

“Just fits me schematically,” he remarked. “I can make numerous plays. “I can have an immediate impact.”

Worth, a 2022 alumnus of Jacksonville (Fla.) Baldwin, wanted to take a closer look at the Hogs’ need for additional experience and depth at linebacker under defensive coordinator Travis Williams.

“Just to see where I fit into the scheme,” Worth explained. “Just see where I can play a significant role and make an effect. Coach T-Will simply felt like a member of the family. It felt like an excellent opportunity.”

This past season, the 6-4, 220-pound junior has 63 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 3 quarterback pressures, 2 pass break-ups, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 13 games.

“I bring a lot of versatility,” he explained. “You can toss me in wherever you need a defensive play made. I assure you that a play will be produced.

“Yes, that is what I would bring to the table: a lot of expertise to help the young men. “They need some experience.”

Who are you looking at in addition to Arkansas, and is this your first visit?

Worth’s first trip was Fayetteville, and he said that Minnesota is “on me pretty hard right now.” However, playing in the nation’s top conference appeals to the Florida native.

“The scouts can see I’m playing against the best talent,” Worth told reporters. “The best conference in college football and it translates to the league.”

In addition to the Hogs and Gophers, Worth has received interest from USC, California, Toledo, and others.

The day before welcoming Worth to school, Arkansas hosted Charlotte transfer linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green. On Friday, the Razorbacks hosted and accepted a new commitment from former Florida State running back Rodney Hill.
