Town lost interest in Newcastle defender

Ipswich Town will not pursue the loan signing of defender Paul Dummett.

The Blues are considering acquiring depth at left-back because to uncertainty about Brandon Williams’ loan from Manchester United and Janoi Donacien’s continuing groin ailment.

The Newcastle Chronicle believes that the Magpies have’resisted a deadline day offer from Championship promotion hopes Ipswich’ for Dummett. Football Insider reports that Leeds are also interested in the 32-year-old.

The Blues considered Dummett as a viable alternative, but he was not a player of interest, and discussions ended there.

Dummett has played almost 200 games for his hometown club but has only made one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season. He is set to be out of contract this summer.

Town attempted to buy experienced left-sider Marvin Johnson from Sheffield Wednesday during the transfer window, but the two teams’ valuations differed significantly.

Marc Bola, a former Middlesbrough player who now plays for Turkish club Samsunspor, was considered as a prospective transfer target but did not proceed.
