Tottenham midfielder wants to part ways with the North London club

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is eager to leave the North London club, but only for a club with serious trophy ambitions.

Hojbjerg’s representative has stated that his client is open to talk to clubs about a move away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the interested party must have a genuine chance of winning key championships.

Hojbjerg’s representative appears to have ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS, implying that the Dane will remain in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Atletico Madrid and Serie A clubs have also expressed interest in Hojbjerg.

The Dane has also been linked with a rumoured approach from Turkish club Fenerbahce, but their offer is significantly lower than Tottenham’s asking price for the seasoned international.

Fabrizio Romano claimed on X that Hojbjerg’s agent, Luca Puccinelli, stated: “A player like him will undoubtedly be part of a club with tremendous ambition or project since he is not just a strong player, but also a character built to battle for important things every year.

Jose Mourinho, the coach who brought Hojbjerg to Tottenham in the first place, has taken over as head coach of Fenerbahce, leading some publications to believe that the Turkish club has made him their main priority.

According to reports from Turkey, the former Tottenham manager wants the Dane to be his first signing at Fenerbahce and has already made contact with the player’s representatives.

Tottenham willing to sell Hojbjerg this summer

Tottenham are thought to have put the asking price for Hojbjerg at £12.6 million, but the Turkish club came in with an offer rumored to be less than half that amount.

Hojbjerg joined Spurs from Southampton in 2020, with the Saints shrewdly including a performance clause in the deal that would see Tottenham pay them additional monies if they reached Champions League qualification.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is said to have offered Hojbjerg permission to quit the club this summer after a season in which he made 28 Premier League starts and 36 league games overall.

Postecoglou wants to re-energize his midfield and team as a whole, but he does not see Hojbjerg fitting into those ambitions.
