Tony Mowbray is quite excited about this chance

Tony Mowbray is dead set on making Birmingham City a success.

The highly regarded and experienced manager assumed charge of Blues on Monday, after emerging as the standout contender in a competitive process to find the right person for the job.

The new Men’s First Team Manager most recently led a young Sunderland side to the play-offs last season and is famous for his dynamic, aggressive brand of football. He won the Sky Bet Championship title with West Bromwich Albion in 2008.

Mowbray spoke to BluesTV after leading his first training session at Birmingham City’s Elite Performance and Innovation Centre about his positive meetings with Chairman of the Board Tom Wagner and Chief Executive Officer Garry Cook, as well as his future aspirations.

“After speaking with the owner, I’m just looking forward to the opportunity I’ve been given here, at such an exciting time in this football club’s history.” I’ve already felt [Tom Wagner’s] passion and ambition to get this squad to the Premier League in the future.

“You want to be in charge of a team that has been invested in, that you can mold, and that you can hopefully get to the top end of this league, competing to get out of it.” That is our current goal.”

Sunderland defeated Blues in November, but now that Mowbray is in charge, he has spoken about how he wants this club to dictate games and play on the front foot.

“We need to get this team moving forward, looking forward, passing forward, and developing good habits that will help the players improve.” I want my sides to be lively, energetic, aggressive, and determined to control the ball.

“That is the level I want us to reach, and with the players we have, I don’t see why we can’t.” It’s a mentality to be brave and desire to take the game to the enemy.

“Hopefully, we can go out there on Saturday and show that we are hungry, aggressive, talented, and capable of winning football games.” We must battle and work hard to find the quality and enthusiasm to make the supporters proud.”
