Tom Brady is getting closer to building a new stadium after acquiring land

Birmingham City, which is owned in part by NFL icon Tom Brady, is one step closer to building a new stadium after Knighthead purchased a 48-acre land in the city’s east.

The location is expected to become a lively Sports Quarter for Birmingham, as well as the home of the Blues, who now play at St Andrew’s.

Tom Wagner, Knighthead Co-CEO and BCFC Chairman, stated, “When we invested in Birmingham City, we made it very clear that we had an ambitious vision to transform the experience for our fans while also contributing positively to the growth and vitality of Birmingham.”

“The acquisition of the old Wheels site is a key step toward making this a reality. The Sports Quarter plans will generate global interest in our club and Birmingham as a whole.

“It will change the future of our men’s, women’s, and Academy teams, as well as the fortunes of the community where we live.

“We are excited to collaborate with the fans, the local community, and key partners in Birmingham to deliver on our plans for the Sports Quarter.”

After two failed acquisition bids, Wagner’s Knighthead Capital Management acquired a majority share in July of last year.

Brady co-owns the Blues and joins Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in crossing the pond to try their hand at English football.

Birmingham, however, are not safe in the Championship, now sitting 22nd out of 24 teams.

They’re one point away from safety with five games remaining. They face Cardiff City tomorrow at St Andrews.
