This Indianapolis Colts player might become a future Kordell Stewart

Jason Bean, an undrafted quarterback from Kansas, could develop into a Kordell Stewart-type player for the Indianapolis Colts.

Many NFL fans know nothing about Jason Bean. However, the quarterback from Kansas could become an essential contributor for the Indianapolis Colts. He can play several positions, much like former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart.

Eleven quarterbacks were chosen in this year’s draft. Unfortunately, Bean never heard his name called. However, soon after the draft, he signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent.

Bean’s undrafted status does not preclude him from having a good career. Warren Moon and Kurt Warner, both undrafted quarterbacks, were Hall of Famers. Meanwhile, Tony Romo, Jeff Garcia, and Jake Delhomme were Pro Bowlers. In addition, many non-quarterbacks had successful careers, like John Randle and Antonio Gates. Bean may never be a Hall of Famer or a Pro Bowler, but he has the potential to be a good NFL player.

Who is Kordell Stewart?

Who in the world is Kordell Stewart? If you followed the NFL in the 1990s, you’ll recognize him. But if you’ve just been a fan for a few years, you probably don’t know.

Stewart is remembered for his stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was nicknamed “Slash” because he could play quarterback, wide receiver, and running back. He virtually fulfilled the same job as current New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill.

Jason Bean has the potential to develop into a “Swiss army knife” player like Kordell Stewart or Taysom Hill. His speed and athleticism earned him snaps as quarterback, receiver, and running back at Kansas.

To be that guy, Bean must first make the NFL roster. Anthony Richardson is the Colts’ starting quarterback, with Joe Flacco serving as his primary backup. Bean will battle alongside Kedon Slovis, who was also acquired as an undrafted free agent, and Sam Ehlinger for the third quarterback job.

It will be intriguing to see whether Bean makes the Colts’ 53-man roster this season. He can earn a berth if he performs well during training camp and the preseason. Is he the next Kordell Stewart? We will see.
