The Seattle Seahawks have designated starting right tackle for return from injured reserve

Abraham Lucas, the starting right tackle for the Seattle Seahawks, has been cleared to return from injured reserve.

In Week 1, during the third quarter, Lucas hurt his knee. At first, it was assumed that he was experiencing patellar discomfort; nevertheless, the severity of his condition has been revealed to be chronic knee pain.

After a knee procedure, on September 13, Seattle placed him on injured reserve.

Before Lucas is activated, he needs to practice for three weeks.

The Seattle Seahawks tackle played college football at Washington State.

As a three-star recruit for the 2017 season, Lucas chose Washington State over Oregon State and Wyoming. During his first season, he was a redshirt. In his redshirt freshman season, he was awarded the starting right tackle position. USA Today named him a Freshman All-American and second-team All-Pac-12 Conference.

As a redshirt sophomore, he started every game and was selected to the Pac-12 second team.

As a redshirt junior, he played in every game during the COVID-19-shortened season, and the Associated Press named him to the second team of the Conference and the first team of the Pac-12.

He was selected to the first team of the Pac-12 and returned for his senior year as a redshirt.

Lucas totaled over 2,195 pass-blocking snaps while at Washington State, obtaining a 91 PFF grade. He filed to enter the NFL Draft in 2022.

Abraham Lucas was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 72nd overall. On May 22, 2022, he agreed to a 4-year, $5,391,678 rookie contract that included a $1,101,220 signing bonus and a $1,101,220 guarantee.

He was chosen to start at right tackle. In his debut season, he started 16 games, with a 68.5 PFF Grade, seven penalties, and nine sacks. Due to a knee injury, he was sidelined for Week 17 but was back in action for Week 18 and the playoff Wild Card round.

Who filled in for the injured Lucas?

Weeks two through six saw Jake Curham step in for Lucas, while the latter four weeks have seen Stone Forsythe take the lead. Forsythe has rotated with 41-year-old Jason Peters, a potential Hall of Famer, in the previous three games.

Will Lucas return for Week 11?

Lucas trained on Wednesday, but Seattle will exercise caution. Regarding if he fully healed from his injuries, Pete Carroll said the following:

No. We’ve now reached the point where he is welcome to attend practice. Not yet aware of that. He is prepared to travel and can no longer wait to rehab. We’ve taken great care to complete that task carefully and slowly, but we still need to monitor how the demands of practice affect everything and how quickly he recovers. It’s been more of a chronic issue, so you need to make sure you’ve dealt with it previously. We’ll watch and see.

Lucas might take some time to get back into the starting lineup if he plays this season. Expect Seattle to stick with starting Stone Forsythe in the interim and switching him out for Jason Peters.
