The position is now held by Huddersfield Town over the former Aston Villa striker

Former Aston Villa forward DJ Sturridge is under HUDDERSFIELD TOWN’s control after making an immediate impression by scoring two goals on Tuesday afternoon.

In the Terriers B team’s 3-3 tie against Bolton Wanderers in their Central League Cup group round match, Sturridge—who turned 22 earlier this month—scored twice.

Sturridge progressed through Villa Park’s junior system before being cut in the summer without ever playing for the senior first squad.

The striker did play a few games for the Midlanders in the 2021–2022 Papa John’s Trophy.

The Terriers’ young striker Hazeem Bakre, who scored three goals in the B team cup match against Rotherham United, also hit the back of the net against Bolton.
