The overall sum that Nottingham Forest earned for the defender

Nottingham Forest have managed to offload another player while increasing their spending power.

It’s been a busy week for the Reds, with many bits of transfer news emerging.

First, it was reported that Moussa Niakhate was likely to join with Lyon before the PSR deadline, and the agreement is expected to be announced soon.

Next, it was stated that Forest were about to work out a complicated agreement with Newcastle.

Forest agreed to a £35 million deal for Elliot Anderson over several years, with Newcastle receiving Odysseas Vlachodimos in exchange.

Forest reported yesterday that Brandon Aguilera had signed a permanent contract with Rio Ave, while news of another transfer emerged last night.

How much Nottingham Forest are going to receive for Orel Mangala

The midfielder joined Forest from Stuttgart in the summer of 2022, and he has proven to be an invaluable addition to the squad.

The Reds performer was loaned out to Lyon for the second half of last season, with the expectation that the move would be permanent.

The good news is that Forest has made a substantial profit on the Belgian player.

According to L’Equipe, Forest has recouped a total of £31 million for Mangala, which is truly staggering!

Forest acquired £11 million from Lyon for the player’s loan last season, and they have now paid the £20 million option to buy him permanently.

It is also believed that Forest has preserved a 10% sell-on clause in case Lyon decides to cash in and send him on.

Mangala was solid if unspectacular for Forest

The gifted player is always smiling, and in another period, Forest would have been able to justify keeping Mangala for a bit longer.

Ultimately, he was never going to be a first-choice midfielder for Nuno Espirito Santo, so moving him on seemed like the best option.

Forest have a wealth of midfield options, including Danilo, Nicolas Dominguez, Ryan Yates, Ibrahim Sangare, and now Anderson.

Getting this kind of sum for Mangala makes a lot of sense, and it should be appreciated by the club.

The PSR level appears to have been met for another year, and it is encouraging to see Forest receiving excellent fees from rival clubs for its players for a change.
