The Oregon Ducks’ OL is projected as a first-round choice in the 2024 NFL draft

Jackson Powers-Johnson, the Oregon Ducks’ center, did not become a full-time starter until his junior year in 2023.

His outstanding season has raised his stock ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Powers-Johnson has performed so well that he is regarded as the best prospect at his position and is expected to be drafted in the first round.

Powers-Johnson allowed no sacks and one pressure on 829 offensive snaps in 2023. He completed with the fewest sacks and pressures of any offensive lineman in the Pac-12, earning the Rimington Award as college football’s finest center.

Powers-Johnson took that momentum into the Senior Bowl, where he stood out as a top offensive guard throughout practices.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com ranks Powers-Johnson as the No. 2 interior lineman in the draft.

“Powers-Johnson is a center with strength, power, and agility, allowing him to control the point of attack.” Though his lack of outstanding length makes him vulnerable to super-sized power players, the Oregon standout’s high-revving motor and persistent attitude make opponents miserable.

According to Kyle Stackpole of CBSsports.com, Powers-Johnson will be selected 16th overall by the Seattle Seahawks.

“The Seahawks just completely guaranteed Geno Smith $12.7 million for 2024, and although that doesn’t ensure he’ll be on the roster (he could still be dealt), it appears new head coach Mike Macdonald will stick with the veteran quarterback. Now he needs improved protection, as the Seattle offensive line was one of the worst in the NFL last season in terms of quarterback pressure rate and pass-blocking grade. Additionally, all three of the team’s interior offensive lineman are slated to become free agents. Seattle fills one of their needs with another Senior Bowl standout, Oregon center Jackson-Powers Johnson.

According to Joel Klatt of Foxsports.com, Powers-Johnson will be selected 23rd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The Eagles will most likely need to locate an heir apparent to Jason Kelce. Powers-Johnson was a center at Oregon, but he doesn’t have to play center in the NFL. There aren’t many centers selected in the first round. Powers-Johnson is also a capable guard.
