The NFL Combine is underway, and free agency is just around the corner.

The Detroit Lions are a club to keep an eye on after making an incredible run to the NFC Championship Game before succumbing to the San Francisco 49ers. Amon-Ra St. Brown appears to be a future Lions staple, and the team plans to discuss an extension with his agent during the NFL Combine, according to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press.

The Detroit Lions want to sign Amon-Ra St. Brown to a contract extension this offseason and will speak with his reps at the NFL combine this week. While no trade is imminent, the Lions have made it obvious that they plan to spend in their own roster this offseason.

Earlier this offseason, allegations circulated that St. Brown and the Lions had negotiated a $25 million per year deal for his new contract, making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. His numbers absolutely justify a contract of that size.

In 2023, St. Brown finished second in the NFL in receptions (119) and third in yards (1,515), earning first-team All-Pro honors.

The NFL announced a significant increase in the wage ceiling for the 2024 season, which could favor St. Brown and the Lions as they try to finalize a new contract for the former USC Trojans standout. It’s worth keeping an eye out to see if the Lions and St. Brown can reach an agreement shortly.
