The manager of Plymouth singles out one Ipswich Town player who was giving his team “a problem” on Saturday

On Saturday, Plymouth Argyle suffered a 3-2 loss away to Ipswich Town.

On Saturday, Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town, the automatically promoted teams from the previous season, squared off at Portman Road.

This season, Ipswich has come out strong, but on Saturday, Plymouth seized the lead early thanks to a goal from Morgan Whittaker after just seven minutes.

Just before halftime, an own goal by Bali Mumba tied the score, and shortly after, George Hirst gave Ipswich the lead.

Joe Edwards gave Plymouth a late consolation goal, but Marcus Harness added a third late in the game.

Both teams gave excellent performances in the match, and Plymouth may have been unlucky to leave empty-handed.

In his post-match remarks, Argyle manager Steve Schumacher repeated that sentiment and singled out Nathan Broadhead of Ipswich Town, implying that the Welshman was a crucial member of the Ipswich team that day.

Regarding the 25-year-old, Schumacher stated to the club:

“It was challenging to keep Ipswich at bay. We were having trouble with [Nathan] Broadhead, so we had to slightly modify our press, what we were doing. The players changed to reflect that.”

A key player for Ipswich Town.

Broadhead has spent a couple seasons in the Football League. Although he has always had obvious talent, injuries have frequently limited him.

Despite this, he has avoided injuries this season and is playing excellently, having scored six goals in the first 11 games of the campaign.

Manager Kieran McKenna will only be hoping that the very intelligent and dynamic player can continue to play at the same level of fitness and intensity throughout the campaign.

Ipswich’s next match is a Carabao Cup home match against Fulham on Wednesday.
