The LB commit is ‘counting every day’ until he joins Alabama

The German prospect intends to join the Crimson Tide for bowl practice on December 16.

One of Alabama’s commits in the 2024 class continues to rise in the rankings. On Tuesday afternoon, three-star linebacker Justin Okoronkwo (Germany) made history by being the first European recruit to be invited to the All-American Bowl on January 6 in San Antonio, TX.Okoronkwo is scheduled to join the Crimson Tide for Rose Bowl practice on December 16, but it’s uncertain if he’ll play in the game.

“If I play, I want to show that international prospects are just as good, if not better, than American prospects,” Okoronkwo told Bama247. “Most of the recruiters in America don’t see the potential in international guys, so it’s an honor for me be the first international guy to represent Europe in the game.”

Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting for a source, traveled to Europe in November to evaluate a number of prospects at the Road2D1 combine organized by PPI Recruits. Ivins was impressed by Okoronkwo, describing him as “an explosive athlete who can change directions on a dime.”Read the whole of his article here.

A source spoke with Okoronkwo, his head coach Josh Alaeze, and Brandon Collier, founder of PPI Recruits, about the invitation. We also learned more about what his early enrollment at the University of Alabama meant to him.
