The injured offensive line of the Jets takes two more hits

The New York Jets’ starting right tackles this season have been Carter Warren and Max Mitchell, but neither offensive lineman may be available for the team’s Week 15 road game against the Miami Dolphins.

Head coach Robert Saleh reports that neither Warren nor Mitchell are practicing on Wednesday. Carter Warren is not going to play today due to an injury. As the week progresses, we’ll learn more about his availability. “Max is not going to practice today,” Saleh declared from the Florham Park podium.

Late last week, Warren appeared on the injury list with a hip problem. Despite being labeled as uncertain to play versus Houston, the fourth-round rookie ended up being inactive on game day. Mitchell, who has also started at guard this season, was compelled to return to the starting lineup at right tackle due to his absence. Right guard Jake Hanson, who was cut from the Practice Squad, got the start.

The 30-6 victory over Houston was accompanied by what Saleh described as a “stinger” for Mitchell, a second-year professional. Only 44 snaps were played by the right tackle during the game; the remaining 24 offensive plays were filled by veteran Billy Turner, who came off the bench.

In his 11 games this fall, the 24-year-old Mitchell has started seven of them. He is one of five players that will start for the 2023 Jets at right tackle. Should Mitchell be unable to play, Turner will be the next in line to man the right tackle position.

After being claimed off waivers by the New York Giants last month, lineman Austin Deculus is also listed on the team’s 53-man roster. On Sunday, the Jets (5-8) go to the Dolphins (9-4) in a game. December 17, 1 PM Eastern Time. Early on Wednesday night, official injury reports will be made public.
