The 2023 season ended in frustration for the Philadelphia Eagles.

They began 10-1 but lost five of their last six regular-season games, sliding to the fifth seed and losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round.

Philadelphia has signed one of their tight ends to a contract extension.

Philadelphia and Albert Okwuegbunam have agreed to a one-year contract extension.

Okwuegbunam began his NFL career with the Denver Broncos.

The Denver Broncos selected Albert Okwuegbunam in the fourth round, 118th overall, in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Okwuegbunam played in four games during his rookie season, catching 11 passes on 15 targets for 121 yards and one touchdown. He was a healthy scratch for the first four games before missing the final eight due to an ACL tear in Week 9.

Okwuegbunam played 14 games in his second season, totaling 33 receptions on 40 targets for 330 yards and two touchdowns. He missed three games due to a hamstring injury.

Okwuegbunam played in eight games during his third season, catching 10 passes on 18 targets for 95 yards and one touchdown. He was a healthy scratch for nine games.

Denver sent Okwuegbunam and a 2025 seventh-round pick to Philadelphia in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round selection.

Okwuegbunam was limited to four games during his fourth season. He missed 11 of the 13 games as a healthy scratch, as well as the final two due to a hamstring injury.

He had no receptions on one target on 57 offensive snaps.
Okwuegbunam will have to earn a tight end position.
Albert Okwuegbunam will have to earn the TE2 place on the roster by competing against Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra.
