The Colts are about to make a fascinating defensive choice before their matchup in Week 8

The Indianapolis Colts are considering using cornerback Kenny Moore in their Week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Right now, the Colts’ outside cornerback corps is completely destroyed. In Week 4, the Indianapolis Colts lost to the Los Angeles Rams 29-23 in overtime due to an Achilles injury that ended Dallis Flowers’ season.

However, Julius Brents, a rookie cornerback, did not play in the Week 7 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. While Darrell Baker, Jr. replaced Brents, Indianapolis lost 39–38 as a result of two costly penalties. Due to a quad injury, Julius Brents is doubtful for the Saints game.

When the Colts play the Saints, will Kenny Moore be moved to outside cornerback? According to Colts.com’s JJ Stankevitz, Indianapolis defensive coordinator Gus Bradley believes his team has a better chance of winning with Moore playing inside.

“Kenny can play outside, of course, but the inside game and how valuable he is inside—you’re going to be using him in 11 personnel and then at nickel—all the components of that,” Gus Bradley stated.

“To be honest, I believe we took a look at that. We’re still debating what’s optimal for the group. Because he is so important to us inside, I would expect him to play more there,” Bradley said.

In recent years, Kenny Moore has emerged as one of the NFL’s top slot cornerbacks. The two years he had between 2020 and 2021 were excellent. Over the course of those two years, he recorded eight interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 25 passes defensed.

In order for the Colts to snap their two-game losing streak, Kenny Moore and the secondary need to step up against the Saints.
