The Browns ought to get the ‘frustrated’ four-time Pro Bowl RB

The Browns should add a four-time Pro Bowler to their backfield before the trade deadline on October 31st, which is just one day away. The player is reportedly dissatisfied with his position.

RB Dalvin Cook of the Jets is that player. Cook acknowledged that he has been unhappy with his diminished position for New York since Breece Hall, a second-year running back who suffered an ACL tear in 2022, returned to action.

Cook stated, “Of course it’s frustrating,” according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. “Dude, I’m a sincere person. I labor. “I’d like to play,”

With the expectation that he would be a major contributor to the offense, the 28-year-old inked a one-year, $7 million contract with the Jets during the offseason. That hasn’t happened; in seven games, he has only ran for 114 yards and zero touchdowns.

Cook stated that while he isn’t actively looking for a trade, he is definitely amenable to the notion if it is what is “best for everybody.”

“It’s something I can’t control, that my name is being floated around in trade rumors,” Cook said. “It might be a good thing.”

In Week 2, Cleveland lost standout running back Nick Chubb for the year. The squad would gain much-needed depth if Cook joined the running back group that currently includes Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt, especially since Ford is sidelined with a mild high ankle sprain.

Money is not an issue for the Browns because they have just under $34 million in cap space, according to Over the Cap. Cook should also be acquired with little more than a late-round selection.

Given Hall’s past history of injuries, the Jets might not be open to trading for Cook. If they are, though, Cleveland ought to call them in what would be a low-risk, high-reward decision.
