That which Burnley Have To see – Team Manager With Message For Clarets Concerning Loan Player

As his form has raised talk of a Clarets recall, Derek Adams, the manager of the Shrimps, maintains that Burnley loan star Michael Mellon should keep in mind the playing time he is receiving at Morecambe.

Mellon played eight games in League One for Morecambe during his half-season loan in January after signing his first-ever professional contract with Burnley last year.

This season, the 19-year-old Scot returned to Morecambe on a season-long loan, and he has already shown a wealth of goals.

The Clarets loanee has contributed 12 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, and Adams acknowledged that given his outstanding play, Burnley might consider calling the player back in January.

Adams added that the player and his parent team ought to remember how much playing time he receives each week from the Shrimps.

When asked if he is worried about Mellon being called up by Burnley in January, Adams responded in a press conference, “Yes, there is always a concern because he’s done really well.”

“The player and Burnley need to consider how well the player is performing here and how much weekly playing time he is receiving.

“Will he be able to play and receive comparable playing time if an opportunity arises from somewhere else?

“I’m not sure; no one is aware of that, but he plays every week and scores goals.

“Is he going to score 20 goals this year?

“Should he succeed, Burnley would be better off with a player who finished the season with 20 goals as opposed to someone who finished with 10 goals and moved on to something better or something that did not work out for him.

“Or he can return there, play at a higher level, and score thirty goals.”

It’s unclear if Burnley will try to bring Mellon back, either to add more depth to Vincent Kompany’s squad or to loan him out.
