Texas Safety To Go Into The NCAA Transfer Portal

According to On3, Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman safety Larry Turner-Gooden intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

The 6’0, 204-pounder was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class ranked as the No. 283 player overall and the No. 24 safety according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Out of Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany, Turner-Gooden held 35 offers during his recruitment, including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, and Washington, among others. Arizona State, Colorado, Maryland, and Penn State were the four other finalists for Turner-Gooden’s signature when he committed to Texas during the All-American Bowl in San Antonio in early January before enrolling early on the Forty Acres. Turner-Gooden had missed most of his senior season due to injuries.

Turner-Gooden appeared in four games as a true freshman, appearing in two special teams snaps and ten defensive snaps, but was unable to secure a spot on the depth chart at safety in 2023 and only played two snaps in the 57-7 win over Texas Tech to end the regular season.
