Suns sign former Raptors player Thaddeus Young, providing frontcourt depth for…

The Phoenix Suns added forward Thaddeus Young on Tuesday, providing the team another veteran presence as they compete for postseason spots in the congested Western Conference.

Young, 35, has played 1,162 career games, ranking third among current players after LeBron James and Chris Paul.

The 6-foot-8, 235-pounder appeared in 23 games for the Toronto Raptors this season, including six starts, and averaged 5.0 points and 3.3 rebounds.

The Suns are presently ranked sixth in the Western Conference playoff race. The top six teams in each conference advance directly to the first best-of-seven round, skipping the play-in round, which includes the 7-10 seeds.

“Thad is a highly respected veteran player who makes us a better team in our pursuit of winning an NBA Championship,” Suns general manager James Jones stated. “Thad is incredibly clever and plays with a competitive edge. His size and defensive skills give diversity to our roster.”
