‘Still have contact’: The 21-year-old rival player communicates with Vincent Kompany frequently

Ian Maatsen, a defender for Chelsea, has now stated that he speaks with another Premier League boss frequently.

He said to Voetbal Primeur that after spending a season on loan with his team in the Championship, he is still in contact with Vincent Kompany.

Maatsen came dangerously close to spending the next few years of his career at Turf Moor learning from the legendary Premier League player.

On the final day of the summer transfer window, Chelsea received a bid from Burnley for his services, hoping to take advantage of an academy graduate who had not yet played in a competitive game.

The Dutchman turned down the offer for whatever reason, choosing to concentrate on his efforts to get into the Stamford Bridge first team lineup.

Due to a fantastic preseason in the United States, Mauricio Pochettino has found him to be a popular player since his arrival.

Maatsen in contact with Kompany

The 21-year-old was a vital member of his team back then, but it hasn’t translated into the domestic league season.

Maatsen has stated that he is still in regular touch with his previous management, despite the fact that his future is currently uncertain.

“In the interim, I have to keep all options open,” he stated. Later on, I might have to make some tough decisions, but the club will let me know.

After Maatsen turned down Burnley, Kompany said, “This doesn’t mean I’m mad at you.” We will continue to monitor you. We occasionally still stay in touch.

Given his decline in the hierarchy this season, it appears that the defender’s tenure with the team is drawing to an end at this point.

Ben Chilwell, who is injured, Marc Cucurella, and even natural center-back Levi Colwill are currently ranked ahead of him in the starting lineup at Stamford Bridge.
