The former defensive coordinator of South Alabama is hired by Missouri football.

At this point in the offseason, coaches throughout the country are finding new positions on a daily basis. Since the season concluded, Missouri football has been looking for a new defensive coordinator. It appears that the Tigers have formally identified their candidate.

According to Brandon Marcello and Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports, head coach Eliah Drinkwitz and the Missouri football team have formally hired former South Alabama coach Corey Batoon following a thorough search.

“Missouri/South Alabama: Sources tell 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello and Matt Zenitz that Missouri plans to hire South Alabama defensive coordinator Corey Batoon for the same role. Over the previous two seasons, he guided the Jaguars to finishes in the top 30 in total defense.

This seems like a great hire for the Tigers. In the world of football coaching, Batoon is considered a rising potential, and he ought to have an instant influence the following season. He began his coaching career in 2009 after being hired as a safeties coach by Arkansas State. After that, Batoon advanced through the ranks by working at institutions like as Liberty, Ole Miss, Florida Atlantic, Hawaii, and Florida Atlantic. In 2021, he was appointed defensive coordinator for South Alabama.

Batoon’s career has advanced significantly because this is his first time as the defensive coordinator of a collegiate football team the caliber of Missouri football. particularly in light of the Tigers’ SEC membership. Even though the caliber of play will be significantly better, Corey Batoon’s time at Ole Miss should benefit him in the long run.

That being said, congratulations to Batoon, who looks to be moving up the collegiate football ladder. Corey Batoon’s future becomes extremely bright if Missouri football delivers a top defense the next season.
