Sherrone Moore is “very” hopeful that Michigan can keep Ben Herbert.

For the Wolverines, this is welcome news.

With Sherrone Moore taking the helm as head coach, the Michigan Wolverines are entering a new chapter. What Michigan’s coaching staff will look like in 2024 will be a hot topic of discussion in the days to come.

Moore stated in his first press conference that he wished to retain as many employees as possible. Ben Herbert, a strength and conditioning coach, is one of those employees.

According to The Michigan Insider, Moore had the following to say regarding Herbert’s retention:

“Very,” Moore said when asked if he was encouraged in his ability to keep Ben Herbert. “You know, we’ll take it a day at a time and see what happens with the staff. But definitely excited.”

Herbert joined the program in 2018, and Jim Harbaugh, the previous head coach of Michigan, has frequently given Herbert a lot of credit for his work.

Ben Herbert is, in Harbaugh’s opinion, the “X-factor in our entire football program,” as he stated in 2022. The degree of strength, the degree of training, and the lesson in mental toughness. That has been the focal point of it.

Herbert may or may not stay, but if he does, it would be encouraging for Michigan guys to grow into players with a ton of physicality and grit.
