Sheffield Wednesday face suspension setback ahead of their trip to Birmingham City

Following the two-week international break, Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl will need to alter his starting lineup for their matchup with Birmingham City.

During Saturday’s 4-0 demolition of Millwall, the Scotland international was given his fifth yellow card of the year. His most recent booking has resulted in an automatic one-match suspension.

Paterson has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season as a Wednesday first-team regular. The Owls suffered their fourth loss in five games under Röhl, with the 29-year-old starting at right wing back against the Lions.

Wednesday has only managed six points from 16 games, which has kept them at the bottom of the standings. They have just managed one victory this season and are nine points behind Huddersfield Town, who are currently in fourth place.

“We must move forward and put in a lot of training; we are not dead. We’ll carry this out.

We can remain in the league if you give it your all on the field. About thirty games remain.

“Yet we require 100%. It isn’t feasible with less.”

One prominent absence from the roster that the Lions simply dismissed was striker Michael Smith. Röhl clarified, “He was injured,” and omitted Lee Gregory from the matchday roster. “It was not his moment to play. I hope he returns for the next game.”

On Saturday, November 25, the Owls travel to St Andrew’s to play Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham team. Röhl’s team plays a home doubleheader against Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City after taking on the Blues.
