Shane Beamer criticizes Georgia football and James Coley

Georgia football has made headlines this week. We can discuss how the former Dawgs impressed at the combine. To be honest, I can write about it later, but the Dawgs are making headlines because of Shane Beamer.

Beamer said this concerning Kirby Smart’s decision to hire James Coley away from South Carolina.

Look, I’ll keep my thoughts about Shane Beamer to myself. However, Beamer appears to be a jealous ex who is upset that a coach would leave Columbia to go to Athens.

First, let’s compare Athens to Columbia, South Carolina. Where would you choose to live for a year? I’m very sure anyone would choose Classic City over Columbia, South Carolina, which is a gigantic hot parking lot.

Aside from that, there are several reasons why Coley would leave the Gamecock program for Georgia Football. The most significant difference, I believe, is that the Dawgs will compete for national championships, whereas South Carolina will fight for Pop-Tart Bowls.

Furthermore, Coley departed South Carolina because he was familiar with the staff at Athens. Sure, Coley and Beamer worked together in 2016 and 2017, but Coley was at Georgia until 2019 and is likely familiar with the majority of the personnel there.

Also, I find Beamer’s statements bothersome since he understands that the college football calendar has evolved, and with more college coaches departing for the NFL, it creates an unusual hiring period. Beamer was upset by a coach quitting just before spring practice. Shane, Kirby Smart will also have to deal with it! You are not alone in this situation.

I don’t see why Beamer is so furious over this. Rather than responding, “It is what it is,” and moving on with his life and coaching career, he becomes irritated and attempts to take shots at Georgia and Coley.

Also, when Beamer mentioned that they had hired a better wide receivers coach, I laughed out loud before I knew anything. The first thing that made me giggle was Beamer’s failure to get a better wide receivers coach before hiring Coley.

Then I looked up who was replacing Coley, and the new guy was the head coach at Limestone University. For those who are unaware, it is a Division II school in Gaffney, South Carolina.

So, if this person is so much superior than James Coley, why didn’t Bemaer hire him to begin with? Wouldn’t a DII coach jump at the chance to work in the SEC?

Fortunately, Georgia fans have Kirby Smart. Smart people would only do something similar to this. Have you heard Kirby grumble about coaching turnover so late in the offseason? Beamer basically comes out as a crybaby here, which is not a good image. Bemaer should be more concerned with how to put together a winning season and save his job.
